The GED is a four-part exam that covers reading comprehension, social studies, science and mathematics. GED candidates must schedule each section separately, and can individually reattempt any sections they do not pass.

• Lamar State College - 1500 Procter St, Port Arthur
Appointments available Monday-Wednesday, Friday 9-1:45 p.m.

•Lamar State College - 410 Front Street, Orange
Appointments available Monday-Friday 9-3:30 p.m.

Exams must be scheduled online. You’ll be asked to create an online account and select your testing location and an exam time that works for you.



FEES:

• $145 per battery/$36.25 per individual subject (4 subjects in battery)
• Payable by debit card, credit card, ACH (electronic check) or voucher
• Candidates can retake some tests for free, but may be required to pay a reduced rate to retake tests after a certain period of time.


REQUIREMENTS:

• Texas residents aged 18 and over are eligible to take the GED exam. Minors aged 16 or 17 may also take the exam if they meet certain criteria. For more information on testing requirements, visit the GED online.
• To sit for the exam, applicants must show proof of residency in Texas with a valid driver’s license, or other identification such as a bill with a Texas address.
